About Us

Our mission is to provide our customers with the most EFFECTIVE and SAFE service to EXTINGUISH ticks and mosquitoes, as well as other nuisance insects, while not harming beneficial insects.

Tick Extinguisher is family owned and operated. Katie and Steve Giuffre have been in the landscaping/pest control industry since 1999 and have, unfortunately, experienced the detrimental effects that tick and mosquito diseases cause firsthand. As an outdoor loving family, we were faced with a problem as the tick and mosquito population grew on Long Island: don’t go outside or find a way to get rid of these problem insects. We couldn’t stand the thought of not enjoying our yard, so we chose the latter – extinguish them in a way in which we could continue to safely enjoy our backyard.

Even with using canned spray repellent products while working outside over the years, Steve was diagnosed with Lyme’s disease after he became partially paralyzed for a few weeks. Years later, he suffered from Ehrlichiosis, which was like having the flu for months. Currently, he has lasting effects from both of these tick related illnesses. When he was (finally) diagnosed with these diseases, the amount of research on tick related illnesses was limited. Without the ability to easily find a specialized doctor for tick related diseases at the time, the learning process and treatment of his conditions were extremely frustrating.

Awareness of tick and mosquito born illnesses has grown tremendously on Long Island since then, but so have the different types of diseases from these pests. We have to be proactive to this issue rather than reactive. Combining Steve’s volunteer fire fighter skills and fire truck knowledge with both Katie and Steve’s experience in the pest control/landscaping industry, Tick Extinguisher was born. The Tick Extinguisher rig is designed to help save lives from a new perspective. The fire truck’s powerful pump can heavily apply the tick and mosquito spray solution over your entire property, keeping you and your family as safe as possible.
